Moses and the Glory of God
Moses was frustrated at the people's lack of faith, at their willingness to serve other Gods. He has an 'honest' (a rant?) conversation with God about honouring the promises he had made. "You have been telling me, ‘Lead these people,’ but you have not let me know whom you will send with me. You have said, ‘I know you by name and you have found favor with me.’ If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you. Remember that this nation is your people.”
Children's prayer activity
A simple prayer worksheet where children can write their prayers on the the hands, representing the God's hand that was placed over Moses in the cleft of the rock, to protect him.

God of Grace
I love how this passage captures Moses losing his patience at God, asking questions, placing demands, revealing his frustrations about the hardship of leading.
Yet, God replies with mercy and grace. “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” (verse 14). And "I am pleased with you and I know you by name." (verse 17).
In our frustration, anguish and questioning, God reminds of us of our identity and his approval.

The Golden Calf (Exodus 32:1-14)
Some intergenerational resources from Intergen Australia, written and compiled by Alison Knox.
"The point of the golden calf narrative is to say God’s purposes have always been to work out his plan in the world through a covenant people. Problem: that covenant people, from the moment he married them, have not wanted to be married to the real him."
