Book of Colossians

Written by Paul, the book of Colossians encourages the church to examine their lives, and be transformed by the love of Christ. "As members of the new humanity, no part of their human existence remains untouched by the loving and liberating rule of Jesus. Their suffering, temptation to compromise, moral character, and the power dynamic in their home must all be re-examined and transformed." - BibleProject. The church in Colossae would be tempted by other religions, but Paul encourages them to examine their life in light of the resurrection of Jesus.

Colossians 3:2 (Set your mind on things above)

Activity

Take your kids to a safe area with a lot of stones.
Explain that they have 2 minutes to collect as many stones as possible.
Give them each a bag to store the stones.

Discuss

After the stones have been collected get the children to count how many they have.
Ask them why they collected stones? Was it just because you told them that stones were important? Stones aren't important!

Life is like collecting stones. You will be told by the world that it is important to buy and collect all sorts of things, but at the end of your life...the things you have collected will be as worthless as stones.
